Making the step from 125cc racing to the highly competitive 'Junior' 600cc class is going to be a big challenge for the 16 year old, who like team-mate Conor Cummins, hails from the Isle of Man. But this young rider appreciates an opportunity when it is presented to him and he is determined to grasp it with both hands.
Team boss Ian Lougher rates the youngster highly, the 10-times TT winner said: 'I have no doubt it will be a steep learning year for David, but he has a great attitude and is clearly determined and keen to learn.
'His results have already shown that he has the talent and therefore huge potential. We have a great bunch of people in the team all 110 per cent behind him. 'There will be no pressure on him, that's not the way we operate, but all the help, support and advice he needs will be readily on tap and we know that breeds confident, motivated and successful racers.
'I am sure David will have a thoroughly enjoyable season racing with Blackhorse Kawasaki.'
During the season, David will be writing a blog in which he will share with us his experiences as the year progresses.
