When I arrived at Croft the weather was nice so I went out to cycle a
few laps of the track to try and get the basics of it in my head so I could go from the off in free practice.
Free Practice:- I set off feeling confident that I knew the course but was soon to find out that it was a lot bumpier than I originally thought and the bike wasn’t set up quite as I would like. I decided to stay out and get familiar with the track for first qualifying.
First Qualifying:- I was all set up to go out for a dry session and it poured down with rain about 5 minutes before the start! So I went out nice and steady to find out what my tyres would do. I did my best and finished 28th which I was quite pleased with.
Second Qualifying:- There was a few changes to the bike and with not having much dry time, I went out hoping for the best. The bike was handling much better than the first practice but the gearing still wasn’t right.
I gave my all and just wanted to qualify and finish 36th which got me on the grid which I was happy with as I had never been to this track before.
Race:- I went out in the race just wanting to get in the top 30 and feeling confident that this would happen, because I have so far raced better than I have qualified. At the start I went off as hard as I could and got to 29th by the end of the first lap but dropped back few places.
As the race progressed I got more confident with the bike and start to move up through the field and had a good battle with Bruce Winfield which lasted till the end of the race finally finishing 26th which I was pleased with as I had moved up 10 places in the race and went 1.2 seconds faster in the race than I did in qualifying.
Later I learnt that a rider had been disqualified which moved me up another place to 25th in the classification.
