Blackhorse
Kawasaki are pleased to announce that Conor Cummins and Victor Cox will
spearhead the challenge for honours in the 2011 Metzeler National Superstock
1000 Championship, and for the second year in succession the team will
be Kawasaki's official Superstock entry in the class. Both
riders are of course no strangers to the Blackhorse Kawasaki set-up nor
the proven Kawasaki machinery, and not only will they have the
fantastic new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R at their disposal, but once again the experience and technical expertise of team boss Ian Lougher.
Cummins
first rode under the guidance of Lougher in 2009 and the early part of
2010 saw him put in some great performances to move into
fifth in the aforementioned championship before his season ending crash
at the Isle of Man TT races. Conor has bravely fought back from his
injuries and the popular Manxman goes into the 2011 season as determined as ever.
For
Victor Cox the second berth in the team is just rewards for a superb
season in 2010. Drafted in to replace the injured Cummins, he quickly
felt right at home
on the Ninja ZX-10R and, like Conor before him the Trowbridge man rode
superbly, eventually finishing eighth in the championship despite only
spending half
the season with the team. With a friendly and warm personality that
belies a fierce determination on the race track, Victor will be going
all-out for success in 2011.
In
addition to his now familiar team management role, Ian Lougher will
again take in selected race meetings. Using both Ninja ZX-6R and ZX-10R
machinery in Superbike,
Superstock and Supersport spec, the Welshman will be at the three big
internationals i.e. the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and the Ulster GP
and will also compete at Oliver's Mount, the Southern 100 and Darley Moor.
Ian Lougher:
'We
are pleased to have signed two of the best young talents in the class,
both are still only 24 years old. We go into 2011 with arguably the
strongest team and everyone within the Blackhorse Kawasaki squad is
really looking forward to working with Conor and Victor next year, where
we hope to continue bringing on young talent through this class.
It's
all very exciting especially with the release of the new Ninja ZX-10R
and we are honoured to be once again given the tag of Kawasaki's
Official Superstock squad.'
